America’s Hip Homeless People

American homeless people are really stylish and cool. They enjoy wearing stylishly dirty clothing and spend their days laying around eating bananas covered in Tabasco sauce.
They’re also mostly white people. At least that’s what this set of photos of hip American homeless people taught me:
The people in these photos are:

Honestly, who didn’t see that one coming?
I think these people are beautiful.
Hippies gone wild? Aside from the ones who succumb to some venereal disease, infestation, or overdose, this will be a fond memory to relate to the children around the suburban hearth someday.
I’ve seen these photographs before on another site, Are you certain these pictures were taken in America? I recall this series of photos were taken in the UK or elsewhere. In any case if these were indeed Americans they are very rare. Most of the hobos I’ve seen were horribly unshaven, stinky and appear(not all) to have a liquor in their hands. These hobos all seem pretty well groomed considering their circumstances. They are also pretty stylish as you pointed out.
come on…the guy has a vans on his feet.
These are kids who are fed up with society and are doing there best to live out side of it.If you don’t understand why they would want to do that than you just might be brainwashed.(A)//(E)
I’m not sure, but I think that some of these photos are real, and that many are staged. I could be amongst them if our house forcloses, so I feel for those who really are homeless.
This reminds me of the stories my great Aunt would tell me about in the 30’s when she was homeless and hitched rides on the trains to travel. No one wants to use the world depression these days, but look at the falling house market, rising interest, and inflation. Can we really make it out without people suffering when the government is pouring billions into a multiple front war? I know I couldn’t make it alone at this time, many jobs are getting downsized wages. I could see myself wandering like a gypsie in L.A. but I agree I’m not as trendy as they are, but when you have no bills I guess you can spend it on other things. I am puzzled why someone would lay around with a half dead minature US flag in their hand, makes it seem as though someone purposely set that up to try and make a statement.
Apparently these homeless people also have better spelling than the average troll you meet on forums. Impressive. Or rather alarming.
Houses? WHO NEEDS EM! When you have one made outa crap you found laying around ground.
In Spain we call some of them “perro-flautas” (flute-dogs, cause they always have dogs and flutes; dogs and flutes need a wash or two, too).
My favorite is the guy with the reverse Mohawk. It’s like he joined the Marines but as soon as the barber made the first pass of the clippers, he jumped up and skedaddled.
Yeah, they’re kids who are fed up with society… blah blah blah. But surely that extreme of self-mutilation, self-denigration, and antisocial behaviour has to be a result of mental illness. Surely, they can’t be LESS unhappy if they were in an asylum. At least they would be cleaner, healthier, well-fed, well-clothed and have fewer harmful drugs in their system.
Maybe they are true masochists, and not the sexy kinky kind either. Surely, a reasonably well-balanced person wouldn’t CHOOSE that lifestyle. No matter how sucky you thought the world is, you can at least make the part of the world that you can personally influence as nice and comfortable as possible.
Those people seem to have slipped off a step or two on the evolutionary ladder. Maybe they’re stuck in the 18th or 19th century. But then again, the Amish are stuck in the past, eschewing the modern world and the conveniences of the Industrial Revolution, but they aren’t nearly as dirty and repulsive as these people.
I couldn’t give a crap about those people. Does anybody else find it disturbing that one of thI’ve lived in Austin and saw kids like that begging for change. If you gave it you were called a “sucker”. If you didn’t you were called, well, a plethora of names. They had all kinds of money for tattoos and piercings though!

And am I the only one who noticed a possum all cut up by one of these kids????
Who are these people, why do they live like this? A closer look at the rolling stock will confirm that they are in the USA, has society let them down? have they fallen through the “system”, do they really choose to live in this manner? Is there any help available should they choose to seek it?
Now imagine how many more homeless people there will be on the streets due to the home mortgage crisis. Gotta love capitalism!
the homeless wear nikes.
… i dont even have nikes…
THERE IS A FUCKING CUT UP OPOSSUM…
missed it the first time.
Send ‘em back to Zendik farm! Smelly gutterpunx drop chocolate on teh sidewalks!
Where are the railroad bulls from the great depression? The only thing that will help those people is business end of an axe handle.

These are a distinct category of homeless: gutterpunks, or GPs, and more power to them!
Wht makes a gutterpunk? Lots of things. Age has something to do with it — usually under 30, but not what you would call a runaway or just a street kid. These “Kidz” are tough emotionally and have no love for the system. They don’t want to go back. Guess what, kidz? You don’t have to. They say genius is really just courage.

I feel sad for people who can’t get their mind together or priorities etc…to have to live like this. This is America. Where there is a will – there is a way. Why are homeless people living like this? Criminals – that can’t get a job? Well, Mexicans can come here and they are illegal and can get jobs…Can’t afford a place to live? Well, some people live as multi-families and there is nothing wrong with that. Maybe I am uneducated when it comes to America’s homeless people…but, it makes no sense to me. At all!
I’m afraid your average american is just not going to understand this way of life. You shouldn’t feel sorry for these kids just because they are dirty and don’t own cars or houses. While you waste you’re life away working for some company that dosn’t give a shit about you or your family they are out there traveling and having fun with their friends{really living life). It’s not always an easy life but I have found that the people who choose this lifestyle are some of the nicest most caring people you will ever meet, not to mention they have a sense of community that most of you will probably never experience. Its saddens me to see some of the negative, ignorant comments that a lot of people have left but it also illustrates my point as to why these kids are not happy being a part of our capitalist society.Just remember when your slaving away at your job these people are out having fun and really experiencing life without having to answer to anyone. You should be so lucky.(A)//(E)

Cool pics and i agree with SMUTBAG, the only difference between me and them is that i manipulate the system by cheating on unemployment instead of being manipulated like the hundred thousand Drone Slaves.
These are the River Kids. I know them personally. Real people, mostly staged photos. They clean up when they go into public places like museums.
love the guy with the cardboard sign “some S.O.B. with the worlds biggest asshole took a dump in here” haha, that’s too funny XD

these people are too healthy to be real homeless. i’ll bet all of them have a house and a family to get back to when they fed up of living like that.i’ll even say this is probably a holiday time, after this, they’ll go back to school, normal houses and normal families, they are probably wealthier than many people who work for a living. you see them in the street asking for money and you just know they have a credit card in their pockets their daddies have given them, so they can go to the cash machine when nobody sees them. i’ve known people like that, it’s a cheap way spending summer…
What should we say, when we saw these photos, they seemed enjoying their lives so well.
How to learn French and learn to speak Chinese
i think that this pictures were made by the polidor kid, a man who goes abroad taking pictures of people living under that kind of conditions.
they look really happy. i wouldnt mind living like them if i had the chance of beinf with a group of friends the rest of my life who just care about havng a roof where to sleep and find some food to it. i’d smelled like rotten fish and i wouldn’t have most of my middle class belongings, but at least i could be happy.
of course i know that this is very surrealist, and there many things to thing about (what to do when youre sick, without money to get some food; addictions, coldness).
as we say in my country, dreaming is free.
some day a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets.
sory, i meant the polaroid kid and not the polidor kid
God bless you
