Nazi Kids in Thailand

What is the deal with Asia?
There have been a number of these kinds of incidents throughout Asia, and I’m not sure what to make of them. I will leave that up to you; or perhaps someone can enlighten the rest of us.
Below are some pictures of high school students in Thailand dressed as Nazis.
Apparently the event is something akin to a high school spirit day, where students break up into different colored teams and wear costumes to celebrate or represent a theme — in this case Nazis!
Here are the Red Team Nazis, with the swastika displayed backwards.
This girl’s sign says RED, with the swastika displayed correctly.
Here we have the redshirts marching in unison, just like those lovable SA brownshirts! The girl’s sign says “Red Team” in Thai.
More “redshirts” with backwards swastikas.
NA ZI!
Fashionable Nazis.
Nazi Staff.
The Nazi Dance. At least they got the swastika right this time.

i’m not sure if this is right but i remember hearing a while back that the swastika has a different meaning in asian culture….like good luck or something…but if it doesnt, then to hell with these people
You stupid f*&#@$%er. The swastika is a revered symbol in Buddhism. The ‘arms’ point the opposite direction of the nazi symbol…so by making the comment about them getting it pointing the ‘right way’ you only show your abject stupidity and ignorance.
Do you see any nazi uniforms in the pictures? Do you see any goosestpping assholes? No!!! These are students dressed up for their Buddhist celebration.
Before you start making stupid accusations like this do some fucking resarch!!!
Buddhists don’t, if I’m not mistaken, generally wear those snappy uniforms. Also. if these are really straight buddhists, why are they displaying the swastika both ways? Also, what of the girl with the imperial eagle on her sign? I think this is a strange mixing of cultures, by overly confused children.
Hey Adolf - are you really that dumb? Or maybe you didn’t even bother to look at the pictures? Yes the swastika is a revered symbol in Buddhism, but these students ARE wearing nazi uniforms (at least their versions of it) - or maybe you failed to notice the 4 foot high “NAZI” signs, or the words “Nazi Staff” on some of the shirts, plus the attempted copies of brownshirt-style crossbelts..
I guess the proper Buddhist display of the swastika also requires carrying fake weapons too?
News flash - while a swastika by itself might be a buddhist symbol, a black swastika on a white circle overlayed on a red background, accompanied by fake weapons and the word Nazi liberally painted on objects is a celebration of Nazism - NOT BUDDHISM!
Jeez you are a moron…
Oh yeah and I would love to see Adolf try to explain how the acronym for the National Socialist Workers Party (NAZI) has somehow become a core part of a Buddhist ceremony..
Adolf, are you high?
You know, I wouldn’t be the slightest bit surprised if these students were told to research an ancient Buddhist symbol and perform a skit/dance routine using it in some way, and that these same students were so ignorant of world history, or simply too stupid to realize that there is a difference between the original swastika and its use during the Second World War and leading up to it.. So they just ended up copying not only the symbolisn it was used with, but also the uniforms as well from whatever website they found it on - probably some skinhead aryan site - or maybe the organizers have been playing way too much Wolfenstein Enemy Territory
John, the word nazi is visible in two images, as well as the nazi eagle symbol.
Time did an article about Nazi Chic in 2000.
Maybe someone should show them one of movies about Auschwitz? Or nice pictures of german cities in May 1945, everything destroyed?
@”Adolf”: If the above arguments aren’t enough, I guess the German flags in pic 6 kinda give it away, no?
I suspect we’re losing a few things in the translation in both directions
If it weren’t for the words “Nazi” and the military outfits, I’d say they’re playing up the original Sanskrit swastika (one appears in Hopi culture too).
Here’s some info on the wider history of the symbol: http://www.crystalinks.com/swastika.html
As it is, it’s just freaking weird, awkward, offensive, and any number of other adjectives. I mean, I’m not sure Aryan Nationalism has any place for Thai teens.
Swastikas are everywhere in Asia (seen them myself), but that’s not what this is about.
Speaking of brushing up on history…the Nazis never made it to Asia, so these kids have ZERO cultural reference to them. Nobody dressing up has grandfathers who fought the nazis, nobodies family members died in concentration camps. Now, they probably would never, ever, ever dress up like Imperial Japanese soldiers.
Before you decide that there’s something wrong with these kids, grow up a little and remember that the US/Europe are not the entire…or even the center of the world.
And it may have been part of a history lesson for all we know. Which wouldn’t surprise me…it would surprise me if American kids learned anything about Thai history or culture…since Thailand is not the center of the known universe.
I think if someone show a dress like the girl in the second pic (with all the nazi’s symbols like the imperial eagle) she must, really must find it somewhere; probably on the web or in some books; so yes, we are not the center of the universe but if you made some researches for a dress is good to know the relation between what you found and history. we’re in the 2007, we have wikipedia and all.
and thailand was allied with japan. and the beginning of the second world war was in europe. we was the center, in a bad way.
(sorry for my lousy english!!!)
Yeah they do suck and I thank you for helping to publicize this incident!
So many excuses and many apologists for this behavior. It wasn’t long ago when America was cursed and damned for a restaurant in the states running an ad depicting a certain Thai person. Thai’s screamed racism, lack of cultural sensitivity, threatened lawsuits, sanctions etc. The Thai’s need to get their heads out of “Hello Kitty” and take some responsibility for once in their life. A simple, “We are sorry,” would do wonders. As a certain Thai Embassy worker said 5-years ago, “…they need to understand that many people are offended and this will never be tolerated.” Flame away apologists.
One of the girls has a GERMAN flag on her collar, and the eagle with nazi emblem is the classic roman style nazi banner.
I can honestly say this is the worst theme they picked, why not something simple like pirates?
Arrrrrr!
From living in Thailand for a few years, it’s probably someone on the team who needed a theme and they weren’t aware of the full meaning behind it. They’re really good when it comes to researching what it all looks like, but they don’t realize the weight that it has since it is not part of their own history - therefore, the whole connotation of Nazism is irrelevant to them. It’s like how a few years ago, Asians were getting offended because of the “Buddha” shirts - the culture of Buddhism is (sorta) irrelevant to us (generally) - and (unfortunately) this is irrelevant to them. I’m not saying that their action is justified - or who’s right or wrong here. I’m just typing what I know. Sure, there should have been someone telling them that it wasn’t such a good idea, seeing that those pictures were probably taken at one of the upper-crust schools - who can afford to put all of this together - but hey, that’s life.
As a Thai, I will help people out a little bit here. First, I have to apologize to anyone who is offended by this. It is our lack of world history knowledge especially those of the western cultures that makes us unaware of the outcomes that could generate by this. As far as the event goes, it’s basically like a high school spirit sport days where they compete against each other following the colors they are in. Most of the time we have to pick a theme to decorate our stands and cheering areas. Since this team is a red team, I would say the staff of the team “SAW”that nazi theme would be fit for them. In Thailand, to be honest, we don’t know much about Nazi and the wrongdoings they had committed. We only view Adolf Hitler as a crazy cruel guy who controlled Germany during WWII, we only know that he is bad, but we have no idea of what he’d done. This incident is unintended as far as assulting or offended goes. For Thai kids, it is just for fun that they could dress up and have fun without wearing uniforms and going to classes. Lastly, we basically did this because we don’t know and I am sorry if our people had offended anyone in anyway shape or form.
PS Like someone in here said it almost like wearing a buddha shirt or buddha underware.

Could you as a german please see nazi-germany as the actor not as the victim. Your point would have been better if you’d not mentioned german cities but the other from the germans destroyed countries.
Unfortunately, many young people in America do not know who Adolf Hitler is or what WWII was, or what is a nazi….as time goes by…the history fades…
I know this to be true, as my 6th grader recently asked “Mom, who was Adolf Hitler?” It is up to us to
teach the yongsters….
i’m sorry, but your kid is fucking retarded.
and i guess you are too, for not raising a decent member of society.
who doesn’t know who adolf fucking hitler is? jesus. pull him away from his video games, set him down in front of the computer, and make him make good use of the internet and its information available to him.
I’m not surprised by such exhibit of ignorance. O don’t think the boy is retarded, he’s just an example of the worst cases of communitary stupidization leaded by the commercial media.
I think these thai assholes just mixed into the “fashion” of nazism that is present in other countries that, because of its ethnical composition, incur into an absolute contradiction, like for instance Latin America, where nazism has, in fact, grown between the native american-spanish ethnically mixed population, rather than the caucasian circles. Let us not forget the analysis by Malcolm X in which he established that contradictions seen rather tempting for young people.
Ny eb’t vashy mat’!
Swastbrf it’s a very old (about 5000 BC) symbol, and I KNOW it is buddist celebration. Just two emo/goth/rock girls get dress a deutch flag.
WTF CHUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF THATS MESSED SOMEONE NEEDS TO SHOW THESE KIDS IF THEY LIVED BAK IN GERMANY THEY’D DIE AND BURN WIT THE JEWS 2 SO WHY CELEBRATE THEIR ASIAN NOT FLIPIN WHITE WIT BLONDE HAIR AND BLUE EYE!!!!!!!!
I live in Thailand and from my own investigation I have come to realize that there is an adoration of Nazis and Nazism by many Thai people. Although there is a cultural ane religious reference to the swastika like symbol, when I have asked both children and adults, they do have a cultural foundation for understanding what a Nazi is and what has happened during the course of history. I have seen countless Nazi flags and etc. throughout this country, North, South, Central and Isan. I’ve even seen children and adults flying large Nazi flags on the back of their motor scooters. According to one Thai adult, translated from Thai, “I really admire what they did, you know, how they killed all those Jews. It is amazing. They were so superior.” I’m staring at a Nazi flag at the internet shop I’m typing this from. It blows my mind on a daily basis.

Fuck all Thai retarded!!!
I am Jewish!
These people are not fucking using buddhist symbols!
Don’t you see the eagle under the swastika under one of the pics. this is scary and hateful!
Educate yourself. South Thailand is predominantly Muslim. Yes and what do they read……….correct. And what is one of the central dogmas of this Islamofascist book.
Watch “Obsession!” ->Youtube
I don’t understand Thai people and i have lived in Thailand for 9 years.
I know that the Symbol is Buddist, but the rest of what is going on in these picture has nothing to do with it.
For starter the girls have a German flag on thier shirts.
The word Kee Nok comes to mind when i look at these pics.
I have come across this word many times in Thailand, some people think that Thai to English is someone that does not like to spend money, but it doesn’t.Thai to English is Bird shit and bird shit is white.
I think the word Nazi tells you everything you need to know about Thai people, and a lot of Asians not just Thai.
Maybe someone should show them one of movies about Auschwitz? Or nice pictures of german cities in May 1945, everything destroyed?
And i say they would probably giggle and joke about it.
Number 30
You’re a twat.
And god was a Jew,so nothing for you!
This is merely out of cultural ignorance, not ethnic hatred or any form of animosity. Displaying Muhammad in a cartoon episode would be of equal indecency. Mind you, westerners.
Thailand attempted to put a western man in jail for 75 years just for a spray painting on the Thai King picture; it costs Thailand the Thai Monkey King videos around the world.
Mind you Thailand, it against the humand right law.
Thailand is a dangerous country. I will not go to Thailand.
A combination of my two fav things… Asian Girls and Nazism1 Heinrich Himmler actually got his idea of the superior race coming from Tibetans from a lady named Madam Blavotsky check it out!
How is Thailand any more of a dangerous country than any other? I’ve been to Thailand and my experience was great. Thai folks are friendly as hell. Biggest smiles on the planet. Best food of my life.
What in the world started this whole celebration. It’s one thing to celebrate the meaning of the swastika but these people are celebrating the NAZI era by dressing up and marching around with fake guns. And to top it all off, they’re young folks. Amazing what people do and how much they understand.
IMO the whole world needs to stop being so fucking sensitive, always bitchin about racism and shit like that. the past is past, do with it as you like,so what if someones grandfather died in the war, nothing you can do now to change that, nor does it benefit anyone if you just try to “hide” the past. and look at all of you, acting offended as if you really cared about all the people that were killed. just simply look at the past as past, ppl dress as romans and shit for halloween and yet none of you get offended or even think about how many people the romans killed ,and for “stupidest” reasons ever! “come slave! u shall be my gladiator and fight against these lions for my entertainment!” just grow up and learn to look at the past for what it is. just…. the past.
