AT&T Inc. is the largest provider of local and long distance telephone service, wireless service, DSL internet access, and zoo animal torture. The current AT&T is now run by the company formerly known as SBC Communications, after it purchased the old AT&T company, or American Telephone & Telegraph.
AT&T may very well be the largest and most powerful organization in the continental United States. Its tentacles reach all the way up into the upper echelons of government.
Don’t worry though, because I’m going to give you 8 reasons why AT&T sucks beyond all belief:
1. They are liars, and horrible at lying. The new AT&T was founded in 1983 as Southwestern Bell Corporation. In 1995, they announced they would be changing their name to SBC Communications, Inc. in a move to improve their global image and reach. Then they claimed that not only was “SBC� not an acronym for Southwestern Bell Corporation, but that it didn’t stand for anything at all. Oh, that makes sense.
2. They lied to the FCC and American people about allowing competitors to have access to their markets. They told the FCC that they would allow competitors to have access to local markets where SBC (AT&T) had a monopoly if the FCC would approve their acquisition of Ameritech. The FCC agreed, and gave SBC monopolies in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Then, SBC broke their promise and never allowed any competition in all five states.
3. They lied again, and stole American taxpayer money. In the early 1990’s, SBC and the other major telecommunications companies (Verizon, BellSouth and Qwest) made promises to upgrade the internet infrastructure of the United States with fiber optics by 2006. For this task, they were given $200 billion in taxpayer money by the Clinton administration. Instead of doing what they said, they pocketed most of the money and used the rest to build copper wiring for near-term profits from ADSL.
Now, the United States’ broadband speed ranking is, at best, 16th in the world, and the major telecom companies are complaining about not having enough money to upgrade. Their solution? Charge everybody more money; forget net neutrality.
4. AT&T is the United States’ second largest donor to political campaigns. Since 1990, they have contributed more than $36 million to both Republicans and Democrats. Their most important political issue now? Winning the right to profit by providing broadband internet access.
5. AT&T allows the National Security Agency (NSA) to monitor its customers’ communications without warrants. This violates the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 and the First and Fourth Amendments of the Constitution of the United States. AT&T still has neither confirmed nor denied this. Are they hiding something? You decide.
6. In 2006, AT&T handed all of their international and domestic calling records over to the NSA. This was done in order to create a massive calling database.
AT&T absolutely stinks. I travel the entire country and reception stinks everywhere. My company of 50,000+ employees switch to AT&T and we are preparing to switch back to Verizon. It is the running joke in our organization. “AT&T…more bars in more places….except the places you are” There a huge AT&T billboard in Jersey City, NJ. Go figure…..as soon as you are near that billboard you have no signal. They should change their name to dropped call or failed call. Stay away from AT&T. It is a shame that Apple is associated with this bogus cell carrier.
My company has been dealing with SBC(DBA ATT) since we do not have a choice for local phone service. They have been cramming us for years. Most states are stopping their stealing, however my state Texas seems to have been major paid off by their lobbyist. The att partner, usually a sleaze ball Vegas operation cold calls retail stores in the evening and gets some high school age employee’s name and signs the poor business up for a new website for only $49.95 for the next 20 years. The girl never authorizes anything but is tricked into giving the business name. I think att splits the take with the Vegas partner. Att hides the charge on the backside of the bill hoping the business wont see it. If the customer ever notices the charge they very nicely credit the charge as they want it kept quiet.The Texas PUC says att is allowed to keep ripping Texas customers off since the lawmakers in Austin OKed it. This has got to be on of the biggest rip offs in history. Would some lawyer looking for a gold mine please get the class action suit started. I bet the Texas lawmakers have several freezers to keep all that cash in.
I had at&t once too (when they were still Cingular). Cingular was great. But then, at&t took full control, merged everything under their name, and then, the shit began to roll out. First, they charged me for text messages when my bill clearly stated that I had unlimited texting. They said that I did not read the fine print. There is fine print for unlimited texting!? After several hours, I got the extra charges removed only to have them reappear the next billing cycle. This time I called and they said “We show you have had unlimited texting for over a year.” I said “Ya, then why am I getting charged for text messaging?” Her answer: “I don’t know. Let me put you on hold and see if this is a legitimate charge.” I couldn’t believe it. Here she is admitting that I have unlimited texting then and then telling me that a per-text charge needs to be researched for legitimacy.
Then suddenly, my service stopped working at my home. When I called, they said they had sold off towers in my area that were shared or in need of upgrade. Then they said “We are sorry, but at&t can not guarantee service inside of buildings”. WTF!? That means my wireless internet card was useless! So, I tried to get my money back on it. Instead, I had a $287 ETF because they claimed I moved out of their coverage area before the end of the contract. I moved out of the coverage area? No, their coverage area moved out on me. Why the fuck did I have to pay for their move?
Because of this, I canceled my voice line (which was not locked into a contract at the time). When she said “why” I said “because I can not use the service at my house when I need.” She said “OK, I can cancel you, but a ETF will be applied to your account.” Holy shit! What the fuck for? I wasn’t in a contract!!!
This company sucks! Stay away from them!

I am paying $340 to atnt for my phones and internet and cable yadah yadah yadah..
I moved to a new home and rented my old house. At my old house i had wifi, and decent connectivity to the internet, anda bar of service… which sucks… a lot. but w\e i couldn’t afford the change to another carrier but i will soon..
So i get to my new home and i want atnt to get me fast access dsl and wifi connectivity. The guy who came to my house to install this said ( premium package ) actually gave me the crappiest service possible. Dial Up. Yes Dial up. So i was kind of pissed off at this. I called a representative right away and they told me that my house and my neighborhood is not wired for wifi OR DSL.
How the hell is that possible? I am paying $340 a month for Dial up?
um.. FUCK YOU.Not only that but i now can not use my laptop ( that has all my work ) because i do not have wifi and dial-up does not work on it! great! since i can not afford a new computer i am stuck using an old ass dell desktop. Not only do i have dialup but now i am using an ancient computer to do my work. Thanks a fucking lot.
Another thing, no service and dropped calls are all great things that i have come to expect from such a garbage provider.

About 5 days later (great timing guys), someone else came and ‘fixed it’ how did they fix it.. they ran a second cable (twice as long) and left it outside my yard so they can burry it later. It has now been a month and a half and they have not burried that cable. Not to mention that they charged me for that week that i did not have service.
This company is a joke. Get your act together, provide better service, comply with what the customer wants, get my internet to work how i want it! HINT HINT HINT** and maybe you won’t be the lowest ranking provider in the US.
I received a phone call from at&t that I had an outstanding balance of $8.00 on my cell phone.My reply was since I have been an at&t or SBC customer for over 30 years I doubt they would turn off my service for $8.00 but they did on Thanksgiving.I made a online payment of $10.00 to get my cell service reinstated.When I called customer service about why my cell wasn’t activated she pretty much laughed at me and said why I would expect to get my cell reactivated for a $10.00 payment.I talked to a representative to ask what it would take to definitely get my cell to work again she said I would have to pay $85.00 and my cell phone phone would be reactivated.Went to an at&t store and paid the $85.00 and then was told I need to pay a $500.00 deposit to reactivate my phone.When I called customer service they actually told me who ever the representative was that told me $85.00 would reactivate my cell was lying.how can you trust a company that openly admits one of their representatives lied.

I have had ATT phone service for a long while now.. and I stay with them because of rollover, I believe you should get to keep the minutes you pay for.. however.. we started getting 300 dollar bills for a few months and I called and they were charging us for Mymediaclub and all kinds of crap I never asked for.. Bill is back to normal now.. but CHECK YOUR BILL!
AT&T sucks really bad!!!! We have Internet access with them at the store I work at and they are so desperate to make an extra buck they hire independent contractors for these sales calls and there is no way to stop the. They try to mislead the consumer into accepting bogus upgrades. They primarily use peolpe from India (of course) to do this dirty work! I also own an iphone with them and I also regret they are the only ones selling them (even though I can also tell you Verizon Wireless sucks even more than AT and T)… One thing I tell you, I will do some further research and AT$T will soon be out of the list of garbage companies I spend my money with… it I’ll be my sweet way of showing them the middle finger!!!
i work for at&t, and I HATE THEM!!!!!you guys should all quit any contracts with them, they dont give a sh*t about the customer. I dont deal with the cellular side, but the voice side, in repair, not only do we have horror stories about missed commitments, being No Access’d, (techs saying customer isnt home), but i also know people in the billing side, and they are trained to do nothing but make money…I started with the company 10 years ago, when it was Pacific Bell, then SBC, now at&T…the way at&t operates is ridiculous, they are cutting jobs left and right. They hire these freakin dumb idiot people in India who have no idea what they are doing. As far as “customer service” department, they hire people to make money, and not give real customer service, they take advantage of older people or people with disabilities and put words into their mouths to order and add services without them knowing. Its not the rep’s fault, its how the company is training these people. They also have different departments pinned against each other. They used to give ” team awards” , based on results and numbers. So basically, every department is back stabbing each other to make numbers, insted of being one company and caring about the customer. But this year, with the new contract, they did away with team awards, so now we are just fighting each other for no reason..It is so lame. The company has and is running it into the ground, the morale is crap, everyone hates their job, people are constantly giving poor service just because we dont care anymore. The company has made us this way. Back in the day, we used to actually care, pac bell was a good company, customers loved us, employees loved working for them, i was one of them. But now, noone can handle it, they want more and more from us, but yet they take from us. So I highly suggest anyone that reads this, boycott at&t. The only reason why i still work there is cuz i have a family to support. And i have to do what i gotta do to put food on the table and clothes on my kids backs. They took money out of my account three times in Dec.2009 and 2 of those times were not authorized! Now it could take 3 weeks after my bank writes them a letter to get the money back. Bought cell phone package service for me and my daughter. Everytime I really need it the service is out or unavailable. They absolutely STINK!! I will never renew my contract. On exactly midnight of new years I wanted to send a happy new year message to a special person and low and behold the service was out. I was stuck in a ditch earlier that day and low and behold the service was out. AT&T SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

i so agree with the person titled ‘me’ i work for att also. it is so nice taking home over $4000 a month plus incentives, cheap $40/mo great insurance for health, dental, and vision for the family. it is such a small percentage that calls in pissed off and u are soooo right, half the time it is the upset customer that doesnt have enough sense to read a bill, understand prorated charges, or have good credit. i believe over half the time they were aware of the charges they call n acting stupid about just because they want to be crybaby and not to want to have to pay it. I hat Cingular(AT&T). A few years back my cell phone service completely stopped working and they would not fix it. I wanted out of the contract b/c of this refusal. After hours and hours of arguing over the phone they literaly said to me, “In order for you not to have to pay the early cancellation fee, you need to provide your deployment to IRAQ or your DEATH CERTIFICATE!!” Yes that is right and completely true. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. I bad mouth them at every chance I get. Run and run far from them.

Spent the entire day trying to get my AT&T modem to work. AT&T landline was filled with static and my AT&T wireless service has always dropped calls in my neighborhood so I went to the AT&T store. The guys gives me a phone number to call. Unbelievable. Hooking up DSL and landline service with Timer Warner Cable next week. Just need another wireless company for the iPhone then I will be free of these clowns.
Just so you know I work for AT&T as a customer service rep. I hate them and everything they stand for. P.s Im canadian…they out source hardcore which you may have noticed when you need to speak to tech support and you get someone you cant understand because the entire department is based in India. They could NOT CARE LESS about their customers. Which Im sure you know because people tell me about it all day long while they are yelling at me. Which I dont blame them for because it’s insanity. i had a 12 month contract with at&t and it expired in august 2009. i went with aother company to save money. at&t sent me a bill 2 months later for 900.00. they said they automatically renewd my contract without my knowledge and charged me all that money for not cancelling the original contract 6 months in advance. HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE?
I did not pay my bill for a few months due to financial difficulties, ATT disconnected my phone on Jan 12th which happens to be the last day of my dec-jan billing cycle.
I called to cancel my service because I am being thrown out of my place, financial difficulty. As soon as I call ATT, the call goes to billing, they take my money. Then I wait 30 mins to talk to someone to cancel my service.
I have been a ATT customer from 1989, loyal customer. I have not had many chances to talk to someone in billing and/or in account closing department.
They are rude, might be RUDE is better. They do not care about how long you have been a customer.
The lady on the phone refused to believe me when I said that my service was cancelled my ATT on Jan 12, no incoming calls or outgoing calls were possible except to 800 number and 911 service. The only thing they could not cancel.
Sadly I have been a shareholder since the early 90s, ATT, you suck. I will rather use skype than use you.
Called on Sat 1/16/2010 trying to get their DSL service, was told unavailable to me but yet on Tuesday 1/19/2010 received letter asking me to join the DSL. If you can’t provide the service don’t market it. THEY SUCK BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CHECK YOUR BILLS, everyone! We had less than a one-month experience with ATT and there were numerous, numerous billing errors! Even after you hang up with customer service, there will be other errors that pop up!
Check your monthly billing dates…Are you getting a full 30 days of service for the “monthly” fees? (check your bill history, too) Check your dates, check every charge, and then check again a few days later.
ATT is NOT recommended. They overbill and count on you not to take the time to notice it.
We have had NONE of these issues with our previous carrier.
I bought ATT 2 month back from Redmond town center ATT store.. The local store forced me to get tethering plan. They said Microsoft employee only need to pay 3$ extra over data plan. It is special offer for Microsoft employee.
The person wrote it on my contract (by hand).
first month bill was wrong. I called ATT and nothing happend. I went to local store and after discussion they corrected it. I told that I want to return the phone (I was under 30 day) and eligible to return it. The manager of local store give asurance it wont happen again and he is there to correct the issue.
Second month same issue happen. I went to local store in Redmond. First theier new manager gave excuses. then I shown them handwritten by their sales person. their sales person came and said yes this was the offer and it should be corrected. Now their new assitant manager lose face and she said she is not going to entertain it.They only sell and I should talk to customer service.
customer service says/wrote they do not have any such record.
I have it in Sales Man hand writing on contract.
They corrected the issue in first bill.
the sales man agree even today that it was the offer he was selling to MS employee.
the manager in local store deflected by giving excuses and later on by making a stance that he office is for sales.

ATT is always lying about everything. They change the terms of their own agreements as they see fit. They rip people off with their air cards that started off as flat fees then changed to 5 megs per month. I have left ATT and I’m happy without them. I don’t understand how a nice company like Apple would have anything to do with a criminal company like ATT.
ATT should invest some money to make their existing customers happy instead of spending so much money on TV ads.

AT&T are crooks. I live on the border. I’m an American. AT&T can’t keep they’re satelitte straight. I am constantly on the Mexican Satelite Movie Star and Tel Cel. Can’t make calls and if I answer my phone while it is on the wrong satelitte they charge me roaming charges for Mexico. I’ve called and they pretty much tell me too bad! Many of my friends and co-workers are having the same problem. They never told us this might be problem when we moved here and payed for their service. They should be shut down!!!!
i work for att, ive posted before, the company has gotten worse…hard to believe…its crazy how much they dont care about the customer..i work in landline repair…they got rid of hundreds of repair techs, makin our appointments like a week out…yet, they wont authorize overtime…which means people sitting at home all day, techs not calling, (cuz they dont give a shit now), and we get the pissed off customers calling to say ” wtf, i took a day off work and waited and ur tellin me the guy isnt coming!?” …yup..thats right…and at&t doesnt give A FUCK about u guys…yet they want us to give service with a smile, the company is shit, pleasssssssse cancel ur services with them…they are liars and cheats and will make ur life hell…i cant wait to quit that fukin place once i sell my house and move out of the state.

I ordered phone service and dsl from at&t last week. I received a letter saying my services would be active friday nite after 8pm.(after customer service is closed) It was not(still is not). Customer service said the installation is complete!!!(it is still off, I jacked directly into the interface box) For $150 they can send someone out to find the problem. Then charge me $55 per 15 min to fix the problem. I told them the problem is they never activated the service at my address!!! All I need from them is service to my telephone network interface box on my home. The very thing I stayed home ALL DAY waiting for the tech to show up and verify the actavation.
How dare they want to charge me to fix something they never installed in the first place. Indeed I should have went with verizon…..People do yourselves a favor…DO NOT USE AT&T!!!!!!!!!!
hey steve, it sounds like u live in california, each state we service has diff prices…well the $150(actually its 120 for the first jack and 50 for each adl jack activated or installed) charge is only if u want us to do any inside wiring, (which actually starts outside),from what u have described, u should be ok if u have a tech actually come out, cuz if u have no dial tone at the outside box(interface box), then they should send a tech out at no charge, ( if the tech decides to even show up).but make sure u tell the rep u talk to that u only want dial tone brought to the outside box…and if they give u a ridiculous appointment date, lie to them and say u have a parent that lives there and is on a heart machine that hooks up to the phone line, they will have to give u same or next day appt…
IF u do get charged, called the business office and complain that the person that made ur appointment told u that u didnt need to be home…u can fight those charges, talk to management, hopefully u will get an old schooler like myself..
my moms bf is a tech so we know whats goin on in each others departments, he tells me that they were told by the union to not work hard and to be like ” whatever” about all the tickets they get each day, basically as a FUK YOU to the company.

Instead, I had a $287 ETF because they claimed I moved out of their coverage area before the end of the contract. I moved out of the coverage area? No, their coverage area moved out on me. Why the fuck did I have to pay for their move?
Because of this, I canceled my voice line (which was not locked into a contract at the time). When she said “why” I said “because I can not use the service at my house when I need.” She said “OK, I can cancel you, but a ETF will be applied to your account.” Holy shit! What the fuck for? I wasn’t in a contract!!!

I am paying $340 to atnt for my phones and internet and cable yadah yadah yadah..
I moved to a new home and rented my old house. At my old house i had wifi, and decent connectivity to the internet, anda bar of service… which sucks… a lot. but w\e i couldn’t afford the change to another carrier but i will soon..
So i get to my new home and i want atnt to get me fast access dsl and wifi connectivity. The guy who came to my house to install this said ( premium package ) actually gave me the crappiest service possible. Dial Up. Yes Dial up. So i was kind of pissed off at this. I called a representative right away and they told me that my house and my neighborhood is not wired for wifi OR DSL.
How the hell is that possible? I am paying $340 a month for Dial up?

FUCK YOU.Not only that but i now can not use my laptop ( that has all my work ) because i do not have wifi and dial-up does not work on it! great! since i can not afford a new computer i am stuck using an old ass dell desktop. Not only do i have dialup but now i am using an ancient computer to do my work. Thanks a fucking lot.
Another thing, no service and dropped calls are all great things that i have come to expect from such a garbage provider.

When they installed the dial-up i went to check it out as i was not here in the morning when they installed it. And i am familiar with dial-up i put my password etc.. and WOW no internet connection!!

About 5 days later (great timing guys), someone else came and ‘fixed it’ how did they fix it.. they ran a second cable (twice as long) and left it outside my yard so they can burry it later. It has now been a month and a half and they have not burried that cable. Not to mention that they charged me for that week that i did not have service.
This company is a joke. Get your act together, provide better service, comply with what the customer wants, get my internet to work how i want it! HINT HINT HINT** and maybe you won’t be the lowest ranking provider in the US.
I received a phone call from at&t that I had an outstanding balance of $8.00 on my cell phone.My reply was since I have been an at&t or SBC customer for over 30 years I doubt they would turn off my service for $8.00 but they did on Thanksgiving.I made a online payment of $10.00 to get my cell service reinstated.When I called customer service about why my cell wasn’t activated she pretty much laughed at me and said why I would expect to get my cell reactivated for a $10.00 payment.I talked to a representative to ask what it would take to definitely get my cell to work again she said I would have to pay $85.00 and my cell phone phone would be reactivated.Went to an at&t store and paid the $85.00 and then was told I need to pay a $500.00 deposit to reactivate my phone.When I called customer service they actually told me who ever the representative was that told me $85.00 would reactivate my cell was lying.how can you trust a company that openly admits one of their representatives lied.

I have had ATT phone service for a long while now.. and I stay with them because of rollover, I believe you should get to keep the minutes you pay for.. however.. we started getting 300 dollar bills for a few months and I called and they were charging us for Mymediaclub and all kinds of crap I never asked for.. Bill is back to normal now.. but CHECK YOUR BILL!
AT&T sucks really bad!!!! We have Internet access with them at the store I work at and they are so desperate to make an extra buck they hire independent contractors for these sales calls and there is no way to stop the. They try to mislead the consumer into accepting bogus upgrades. They primarily use peolpe from India (of course) to do this dirty work! I also own an iphone with them and I also regret they are the only ones selling them (even though I can also tell you Verizon Wireless sucks even more than AT and T)… One thing I tell you, I will do some further research and AT$T will soon be out of the list of garbage companies I spend my money with… it I’ll be my sweet way of showing them the middle finger!!!
i work for at&t, and I HATE THEM!!!!!you guys should all quit any contracts with them, they dont give a sh*t about the customer. I dont deal with the cellular side, but the voice side, in repair, not only do we have horror stories about missed commitments, being No Access’d, (techs saying customer isnt home), but i also know people in the billing side, and they are trained to do nothing but make money…I started with the company 10 years ago, when it was Pacific Bell, then SBC, now at&T…the way at&t operates is ridiculous, they are cutting jobs left and right. They hire these freakin dumb idiot people in India who have no idea what they are doing. As far as “customer service” department, they hire people to make money, and not give real customer service, they take advantage of older people or people with disabilities and put words into their mouths to order and add services without them knowing. Its not the rep’s fault, its how the company is training these people. They also have different departments pinned against each other. They used to give ” team awards” , based on results and numbers. So basically, every department is back stabbing each other to make numbers, insted of being one company and caring about the customer. But this year, with the new contract, they did away with team awards, so now we are just fighting each other for no reason..It is so lame. The company has and is running it into the ground, the morale is crap, everyone hates their job, people are constantly giving poor service just because we dont care anymore. The company has made us this way. Back in the day, we used to actually care, pac bell was a good company, customers loved us, employees loved working for them, i was one of them. But now, noone can handle it, they want more and more from us, but yet they take from us. So I highly suggest anyone that reads this, boycott at&t. The only reason why i still work there is cuz i have a family to support. And i have to do what i gotta do to put food on the table and clothes on my kids backs. I really do wish i cared about my job, but i just dont anymore…and its not my fault…

Bought cell phone package service for me and my daughter. Everytime I really need it the service is out or unavailable. They absolutely STINK!! I will never renew my contract. On exactly midnight of new years I wanted to send a happy new year message to a special person and low and behold the service was out. I was stuck in a ditch earlier that day and low and behold the service was out. AT&T SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

i so agree with the person titled ‘me’ i work for att also. it is so nice taking home over $4000 a month plus incentives, cheap $40/mo great insurance for health, dental, and vision for the family. it is such a small percentage that calls in pissed off and u are soooo right, half the time it is the upset customer that doesnt have enough sense to read a bill, understand prorated charges, or have good credit. i believe over half the time they were aware of the charges they call n acting stupid about just because they want to be crybaby and not to want to have to pay it. I hat Cingular(AT&T). A few years back my cell phone service completely stopped working and they would not fix it. I wanted out of the contract b/c of this refusal. After hours and hours of arguing over the phone they literaly said to me, “In order for you not to have to pay the early cancellation fee, you need to provide your deployment to IRAQ or your DEATH CERTIFICATE!!” Yes that is right and completely true. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. I bad mouth them at every chance I get. Run and run far from them.

Spent the entire day trying to get my AT&T modem to work. AT&T landline was filled with static and my AT&T wireless service has always dropped calls in my neighborhood so I went to the AT&T store. The guys gives me a phone number to call. Unbelievable. Hooking up DSL and landline service with Timer Warner Cable next week. Just need another wireless company for the iPhone then I will be free of these clowns.
Just so you know I work for AT&T as a customer service rep. I hate them and everything they stand for. P.s Im canadian…they out source hardcore which you may have noticed when you need to speak to tech support and you get someone you cant understand because the entire department is based in India. They could NOT CARE LESS about their customers. Which Im sure you know because people tell me about it all day long while they are yelling at me. Which I dont blame them for because it’s insanity. I pretty much tell the customers I feel their pain and so on which is soooooo gunna get me fired which at this point is quite alright because I dont like having to clean up their effin mess all the time. i had a 12 month contract with at&t and it expired in august 2009. i went with aother company to save money. at&t sent me a bill 2 months later for 900.00. they said they automatically renewd my contract without my knowledge and charged me all that money for not cancelling the original contract 6 months in advance. HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE?
I did not pay my bill for a few months due to financial difficulties, ATT disconnected my phone on Jan 12th which happens to be the last day of my dec-jan billing cycle.
I called to cancel my service because I am being thrown out of my place, financial difficulty. As soon as I call ATT, the call goes to billing, they take my money. Then I wait 30 mins to talk to someone to cancel my service.
I have been a ATT customer from 1989, loyal customer. I have not had many chances to talk to someone in billing and/or in account closing department.
They are rude, might be RUDE is better. They do not care about how long you have been a customer.
The lady on the phone refused to believe me when I said that my service was cancelled my ATT on Jan 12, no incoming calls or outgoing calls were possible except to 800 number and 911 service. The only thing they could not cancel.
Sadly I have been a shareholder since the early 90s, ATT, you suck. I will rather use skype than use you.
Called on Sat 1/16/2010 trying to get their DSL service, was told unavailable to me but yet on Tuesday 1/19/2010 received letter asking me to join the DSL. If you can’t provide the service don’t market it. THEY SUCK BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CHECK YOUR BILLS, everyone! We had less than a one-month experience with ATT and there were numerous, numerous billing errors! Even after you hang up with customer service, there will be other errors that pop up!
Check your monthly billing dates…Are you getting a full 30 days of service for the “monthly” fees? (check your bill history, too) Check your dates, check every charge, and then check again a few days later.
ATT is NOT recommended. They overbill and count on you not to take the time to notice it.
We have had NONE of these issues with our previous carrier.
I bought ATT 2 month back from Redmond town center ATT store.. The local store forced me to get tethering plan. They said Microsoft employee only need to pay 3$ extra over data plan. It is special offer for Microsoft employee.

first month bill was wrong. I called ATT and nothing happend. I went to local store and after discussion they corrected it. I told that I want to return the phone (I was under 30 day) and eligible to return it. The manager of local store give asurance it wont happen again and he is there to correct the issue.
Second month same issue happen. I went to local store in Redmond. First theier new manager gave excuses. then I shown them handwritten by their sales person. their sales person came and said yes this was the offer and it should be corrected. Now their new assitant manager lose face and she said she is not going to entertain it.They only sell and I should talk to customer service.
customer service says/wrote they do not have any such record.
I have it in Sales Man hand writing on contract.
They corrected the issue in first bill.
the sales man agree even today that it was the offer he was selling to MS employee.
the manager in local store deflected by giving excuses and later on by making a stance that he office is for sales.
the central office says it is none of their business.
ATT is always lying about everything. They change the terms of their own agreements as they see fit. They rip people off with their air cards that started off as flat fees then changed to 5 megs per month. I have left ATT and I’m happy without them. I don’t understand how a nice company like Apple would have anything to do with a criminal company like ATT.
ATT should invest some money to make their existing customers happy instead of spending so much money on TV ads.

AT&T are crooks. I live on the border. I’m an American. AT&T can’t keep they’re satelitte straight. I am constantly on the Mexican Satelite Movie Star and Tel Cel. Can’t make calls and if I answer my phone while it is on the wrong satelitte they charge me roaming charges for Mexico. I’ve called and they pretty much tell me too bad! Many of my friends and co-workers are having the same problem. They never told us this might be problem when we moved here and payed for their service. They should be shut down!!!!
i work for att, ive posted before, the company has gotten worse…hard to believe…its crazy how much they dont care about the customer..i work in landline repair…they got rid of hundreds of repair techs, makin our appointments like a week out…yet, they wont authorize overtime…which means people sitting at home all day, techs not calling, (cuz they dont give a shit now), and we get the pissed off customers calling to say ” wtf, i took a day off work and waited and ur tellin me the guy isnt coming!?” …yup..thats right…and at&t doesnt give A FUCK about u guys…yet they want us to give service with a smile, the company is shit, pleasssssssse cancel ur services with them…they are liars and cheats and will make ur life hell…i cant wait to quit that fukin place once i sell my house and move out of the state.

I ordered phone service and dsl from at&t last week. I received a letter saying my services would be active friday nite after 8pm.(after customer service is closed) It was not(still is not). Customer service said the installation is complete!!!(it is still off, I jacked directly into the interface box) For $150 they can send someone out to find the problem. Then charge me $55 per 15 min to fix the problem. I told them the problem is they never activated the service at my address!!! All I need from them is service to my telephone network interface box on my home. The very thing I stayed home ALL DAY waiting for the tech to show up and verify the actavation.
How dare they want to charge me to fix something they never installed in the first place. Indeed I should have went with verizon…..People do yourselves a favor…DO NOT USE AT&T!!!!!!!!!!
hey steve, it sounds like u live in california, each state we service has diff prices…well the $150(actually its 120 for the first jack and 50 for each adl jack activated or installed) charge is only if u want us to do any inside wiring, (which actually starts outside),from what u have described, u should be ok if u have a tech actually come out, cuz if u have no dial tone at the outside box(interface box), then they should send a tech out at no charge, ( if the tech decides to even show up).but make sure u tell the rep u talk to that u only want dial tone brought to the outside box…and if they give u a ridiculous appointment date, lie to them and say u have a parent that lives there and is on a heart machine that hooks up to the phone line, they will have to give u same or next day appt…
IF u do get charged, called the business office and complain that the person that made ur appointment told u that u didnt need to be home…u can fight those charges, talk to management, hopefully u will get an old schooler like myself..
my moms bf is a tech so we know whats goin on in each others departments, he tells me that they were told by the union to not work hard and to be like ” whatever” about all the tickets they get each day, basically as a FUK YOU to the company.
last week we recieved an email from randall stephenson, it was a survey about what the employees thought about the company, needless to say, we ALL told them what was on our mind….OF COURSE those fukers only gave us 15 minutes to fill it out, and told us, “if you want to finish it, u have to do it in between taking your calls”…we were all a lil pissed about that, but by now, we call that standard….
