At the local AT&T Store in Santa Barbara, a crazy lady went up to some kids and described a conspiracy that the iPhone is going to destroy our minds.

  3. Sounds and looks like a senile aging hippie. She probably smoked too much pot, mushrooms, acid, etc.

    Besides, they didn’t have the “intertubes” or cell phones or i-anything back in her day, and they got along fine, so why should we have it.

    Judging from the replies of some of the kids, she may not be that far off from the truth…

    The greeks said about the same thing about writing around antiquity. And they were partly right, but we praised the benefits this technology gave us and we forgot about what we left behind.

    Admittedly, she’s gone nut, but she’s a wise nut.

    The future is coming fast towards us like never before, and we gobble it up without much of a second thought. So, I’d go ahead and follow her advice: think about it. ‘Cause I’m a bit scared, too.

  9. I’m a programmer and I have friends who worked on the iPhone… It always amazes me how little people understand computers. Trust me, if computer programmers had the ability to take over the minds of people using embedded systems, we would have done it years ago in a ‘revenge of the nerds’-esque way. Instead, we’re still dealing with stupidly trivial things like semaphore deadlocks and working around the idiocy that is called Windows.

  11. Although she is a little extreme in her thought process of the iPhones “hidden intentions”, she does make a point in the beginning. Some of you may freak but I’m sure everyone here knows what I’m talking about. I know I am not the only one who has gone to a store where the “system” is down, and I am unable to purchase anything because the person behind the counter couldn’t count my change if there life depended on it.

    Technology definately has had it’s toll. Good and Bad.
